George III Coade Stone Triform Pedestal Sundial
Stunning late 18th Century Coade Stone triform pedestal sundial.
Classically decorated, cornered by female terms and standing on a Greek key base, surmounted by an Austin and Seeley bronze plate.
The whole in very good condition, commensurate with age and use and beautifully weathered.
This design is illustrated in the Coade catalogue as item no 135, which Mrs Coade thought particularly suitable for a sundial, please refer to last image. There are four other known examples of this pedestal, these can be found at Weston Park, Syon Lodge, Audley End and Wardour Castle.
